Beta soft-launch: today, right now!
I’m taking the plunge to finally share what I’ve got! I recently finished playtesting all 3 core scenarios in the updated engine, finding and fixing bugs, and now I’m pretty sure that y’all will be able to install the game and play those scenarios mostly smoothly.
I recommend you install the Itch app and install BoE: Itch Edition through the app. This will get you automatic updates, and for the next little while small updates should be frequent. On MacOS, launching through the Itch app should also avoid an annoying problem when double-clicking the app.
If you download the game directly on a Mac, you will have to open your terminal and run a command, xattr -c “<folder>/Blades of Exile.app” where <folder> is the folder you put it in. Sorry about this.
Expect to find bugs–save your game often (in addition to the new autosave feature!). Reporting bugs will help me fix them ASAP.
I will be monitoring the following places for feedback and bug reports:
Spiderweb Software official Blades of Exile forum
GitHub Issue Tracker - this is the best place to report bugs
Exiled - a new, community-run discord server
We’re entering a new phase of the roadmap focused on stabilizing the game build and adding a tutorial/making it easier for new players to learn BoE. At that point, we’ll be going for a bigger launch and more buzz. To keep supporting the project, check out the new Patreon.

Congratulations to the release! This is a real classic and I still play it on MacOS 9 via Sheepshaver. Great to see an enhanced windows port. One question: I don't find a possibility to adjust/scale the game window to the the screen resolution. This way with a regular 1920x1080 resolution the game window is tiny and the game practically unplayble. Is there a chance to change resolution in the game options instead of having to change it in windows manually every time? Thank you for your work!
In the game preferences there is UI scale! It should be trying to set that as high as it can fit on your screen, so if it’s starting at 1.0 scale on a 1080p screen there might be something wrong…
Hi, thank you for your reply. I can only chose 1 or 1.5 in the options for UI scale. That's how it looks:
Ok. There are scales 2.0 and above, but they have some UI elements that clip outside the screen making it unplayable so we only provide options for the largest size where everything can fit.
If we make some adjustments to our taller menus I think we should be able to allow 2.0 on 1080p.
